Elections

There are typically two elections throughout the year:

  1. General Election

    -Election to fill the President, Vice President (Finance), Vice President (Internal), Vice President (External), Vice President (Marketing), Vice President (Human Geography), Vice President (Planning), and Vice President (Events) positions.

    -Occurs during April each year.

  2. Fall By-Election

    -Election to fill vacancies on the Executive Committee

    -Usually occurs over the summer or in September each year.

Election Dates:

Close of Nomination: Sunday, March 17, 5:00 pm

Campaign Begins: Monday, March 18, 6:00 pm

Election Forum: Monday, march 18, 6:00 pm

Voting Begins: Wednesday, March 20, 6:00am

Voting Ends: Wednesday, April 3, 5:00 pm

Result Announcement: Wednesday, April 3, 6:00 pm at the GAPSS AGM in Tory 3-57!

Executive Committee

  • President: Acts as the primary spokesperson for the Geography and Planning Students’ Society.

  • Vice President (Finance): Oversee GAPSS operational budget and provide financial advice to the Executive Committee.

  • Vice President (Internal): Acts as the liaison between the executive committee and members and coordinate and plan internal events and activities.

  • Vice President (External): Build and maintain communication and relationships with other student groups, external organizations, and the Human Geography and Planning industry.

  • Vice President (Marketing): Oversee and lead marketing efforts to ensure GAPSS maintains a constant presence on social media.

  • Vice President (Human Geography): Leads and coordinates GAPSS’ efforts on academic advocacy related to Human Geography.

  • Vice President (Planning): Leads and coordinates GAPSS’ efforts on academic advocacy related to Planning.

  • Vice President (Events): Oversee the planning and organizing of academic and non-academic events.
