Asha Review JOEY Bell Tower
JOEY Bell Tower is a fairly typical restaurant featuring many cuisines, but with a focus on North American food. It is downtown, at 10310 101 St NW, with central station being the closest (about 5 blocks away). It is on the pricer end for a student budget, with most entrees constant around $30.
It is a typical sit-down restaurant, although definitely on the fancier end, with very nice moody lighting (although that did make it harder to get good pictures!), and a decent variety of food. The cuisine felt similar to options you can get at other places like Earls, except it tasted better. It is a good place to go for special occasions.
I got the blackened chicken (with potato salad and cole slaw) for $31. I found it to be really tasty, the chicken was perfectly cooked and delicious, and the potato salad with bacon was honestly incredible. I thought the salad and the chicken went together very well. There were limited, but delicious, dessert options. I got the half-size creme brulee cheesecake, for $7, and one of my friends got the molten chocolate cake. I enjoyed the cheesecake, and my friend seemed to like the chocolate cake too. The cheesecake has a really delicious coconut flavour, which I was not expecting, but added to the meal. Overall, I would rate the food as a 9/10.

I really enjoyed the food, but the service could have been better. For a restaurant with an elevated vibe, I would expect quite good service, but I had to frequently call the waiter over to refill my water and to order more food. I was with a large party, so that may have been the reason for these issues. The restaurant was not very busy except for us, and a downtown restaurant (near the arena) should be used to large parties. This would not bother me too much, except because I was paying more than I usually would for a restaurant, and I wanted the experience to reflect that. I would rate the service as a 6/10.
Overall, I really enjoyed going to this restaurant. The food was definitely the highlight (I NEED to learn how to make that chicken!) with the service sub-par. Even with the issues, I would still recommend going here for special occasions, especially because the food was so delicious, and the atmosphere was very nice. I would rate JOEY Bell Tower as a 8/10.
